If you feel ill, you can go to the chemist to buy cough mixture or headache pills. For more powerful drugs, you need to get a prescription form a doctor. Doctors work in surgeries and health centres. There is also a phone service, called NHS Direct. With NHS Direct you can talk to a trained nurse. Some people prefer to use alternative medicine like Chinese herbs, acupunture or osteopathy. If you exercice regulary and eat a healthy diet, you shouldn't need to use a helthcare system.

Computers are now very important of life in Britain. They tell us about delays to transport. For many young people playing computer games is their favourite way of speding spare time. Computer are a very important part of most areas of life in Britain- libaryes, police officer and schools.
They'll even control de way we live in 'smart houses' or computer-controller houses.

In England no town is more than 170 quilometers from the sea. the

British Navy was the biggest navy in the world at one time. In Liverpool

there is a great museums of maritime history.The most famous

ship was probably the Titanic. It sank in 1912 and over 1,500 people

drowned. Titanic was one of the most expensive films ever made.

The biggest cruise ship , The Queen Mary 2, wich crosses the Atlantic

from Southampton to New York. It still takes five or six days.

Some of the most famous horror stories were written by British writers. The first was published by Mary Shelly in 1818-- Frankenstein. Bam Stoker, the Irish writer, created Dracula in 1897. There are many films which feature these two horror characters.

Stoker thought of his story when he was sitting in Highgate tomb. He wondered what would heppen if moonlight could wake up a dead body in a tomb.

Now visitors to London can go on special guided Dracula tours. British people love to be scared!
