In England no town is more than 170 quilometers from the sea. the
British Navy was the biggest navy in the world at one time. In Liverpool
there is a great museums of maritime history.The most famous
ship was probably the Titanic. It sank in 1912 and over 1,500 people
drowned. Titanic was one of the most expensive films ever made.
The biggest cruise ship , The Queen Mary 2, wich crosses the Atlantic
from Southampton to New York. It still takes five or six days.

Some of the most famous horror stories were written by British writers. The first was published by Mary Shelly in 1818-- Frankenstein. Bam Stoker, the Irish writer, created Dracula in 1897. There are many films which feature these two horror characters.
Stoker thought of his story when he was sitting in Highgate tomb. He wondered what would heppen if moonlight could wake up a dead body in a tomb.
Now visitors to London can go on special guided Dracula tours. British people love to be scared!

The most famous police station in Britain is New Scotland Yard in London, but there are police stations in over teh country. They can arrestpeople in the street, but they also give some information. He must hand over everything he's carrying or has gor in his pockets. Next they take fingerprints to check the person´s identity. They also take mouth swabs for analysis of DNA.

Supermarkets are an important part of daily live in Britain. 80 % of groceries in Britain come from Asda ot Tesco. Tesco is the biggest supermarket.Asda and Tesco, are also the biggest sallers of clothes in Britain. In this supermarkets you can buy anything. You can buy sports equipments, bycicles, CDs, DVDs, books, and toys. There are many more supermarkets now than 20 years ago. The very big supermarkets are usually on the edge of towns.

The most popular British soap operas are East Enders and Coronation Street. These are popular dramas about the lives of ordinary people.There usually three to five episodes each week. They even buy soap operas megazines. There also web sites for all the main soap operas. The megazines and web sites, contain previews of the next week's shows, so that fans can find out what's going to happen next.

Scotland is one of the four regions in Britain.Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland. Scotland is in north of England. It's famous for this lakes, wich are called loch in Scotland. Sport is very important in Scotland. There are lots of golfs courses and each year in the Highlands there are Highland Games, with some familiar games events and some unusual ones. Glasgow's entreteniment centre is a fantastic pice of modern architecture.
